Matt Belveal ’22 leads the crowd in a chant protesting the Tri-County Health Department’s repeal of the district’s choice to enforce masks Sept. 1. The crowd cheered “We won’t wear the,” throughout the time protest. “We’re in a bubble,” Belveal said. “People don’t get involved like this. These are our rights as American citizens. I understand if you want to wear a mask – that’s your choice. I’m double vaccinated. It should be my decision if I should or should not wear a mask and everyone else here. If they want to get sick, that is their conscious decision.”

Mask Freedom: Students March Against Mask Mandate

Students walk out and protest in the student parking lot Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:54 a.m. after the Tri-County Health Department announced they were rescinding the Douglas County School District's choice to opt out of wearing masks during school.
