Paper-made links with “Sources of Strength,” written by students, hang from the main hall’s railings March 2. The Sources of Strength club made an activity for all Seminar classes to complete on March 1, where students wrote a “Source of Strength” on a piece of paper. The links were then joined into a chain with other students’ papers, among the many other strengths written down, some saying “family” or “school.”

One student made a green link that said  “Andrew Tate.” Tate is a British-American social media personality, businessman, and former professional kickboxer, according to Wikipedia.

“I think Andrew Tate is a bad influence and causes lots of controversies. I don’t support him, ever,” Komi Edwards ‘26 said.

According to a user on Twitter, Andrew Tate is a person, “(…) whose violently misogynistic, homophobic videos have propelled him to global fame among young men and boys.”

Andrew Tate has been quoted on video describing what to do if your female partner finds out that you’ve been cheating, with one of the steps being, “(…) grip her up by the neck.” However, he has also been quoted as saying, “It’s your duty as a man to stand up and say I want to be as important and strong and good-hearted and god-fearing as possible.”

“Andrew Tate is a criminal who is worshiped [by] and has inspired many young boys across America,” Grayson Gaines ’24 said. “His actions have had scary consequences, and as more crimes he’s committed get revealed, the worse his followers will become.”

Out of the eight sources of strength: family support, positive friends, mentors, healthy activities, generosity, spirituality, medical access and mental health, do you agree that it’s valid for Andrew Tate to fall under one? Comment below what you think and why.
