Jaguars Smoke Smoky Hill High School: Photo Recap

The Jaguars continue their winning streak of 2-0 for the start of the football season.

The sounds of echoing cheers reach the sidelines as senior Sam Cuthbert catches the ball after a kickoff by the Smoky Hills High School (SHHS) Buffs kicker at Echo Park Stadium Aug. 31. He scores, and the crowd goes wild as the varsity football team works their way to a win for the second game of the year.

The team was 7-0 after the first quarter and went into halftime with a score of 14-7.

During halftime, Poms performed their dance and Marching Band performed the opener of their show, “Breathe into Life.” The band also held their Senior Night ceremony, including flowers and recognitions, to honor the seniors who participated and led the band.

Future Jags Night was also held during halftime, where any kid who wore their jersey got into the game for free and were able to run through the “Welcome to the Jungle” tunnel.

The Jaguars went on to score another 21 points during the last half, with a final score of 42-7 W and a total of 312 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. The team now has a win/loss record of 2-0.

For their next game, the Jags take on Denver East High School Angels at All-City Stadium at 7 p.m. Sept. 8, after a 26-19 win against the Angels last year. Fans are asked to wear neon-colored clothes to show support.
