In the third episode of Spiffy Spoose On Sports News, seniors Jackson Bond and Preston Duman discuss the implications of Lane Kiffin leaving the University of Mississippi (UM) for a job at Louisiana State University (LSU). Kiffin’s contract includes a $91 million buyout over the next seven years, incentives for winning the SEC championship or playoff games as well as a guaranteed 80% monthly pay of his entire contract if he is fired.

Julia Salas ‘26 readies her stance to dive in the 50-free at Heritage during the B-Leagues meet Jan. 31. If a swimmer made a qualifying A-League time during the meet, they would qualify to compete at A-Leagues with the chance of going on to State. For many of the competing swimmers, B-Leagues was the last meet of the season. “The vibes here are very nice. The music is blasting, and the team dynamic is so fun, chaotic, but I love it,” Isabella Ramos ‘29 said.
The Last Stretch: Swimming Out of the Season
During the Big Cat Brawl, varsity swimmer Avery Clements ‘28 competes in the 100 Backstroke at Littleton High School Dec 6. The Jaguars placed second to 10 other schools with 421 points with Chaparral High School placing first with 432 points. “I think we're gonna do really well. Everyone's super excited. This was kind of like our first big meet. So this was kind of like a taste as to what really huge fun meets are like,” Zoe Solano ‘26 said.

Running across the field at Echo Park stadium Sept. 25, defensive end Kane Wright ‘26 holds an RC flag before the 14-33 loss in Homecoming against Arapahoe. Halftime featured performances from all three levels of dance team, man poms, along with the band, being joined by future Jags from the middle school. Despite a tied game at the end of the first half, the Jaguars were unable to pull off a win against the Warriors. “I feel like we left a whole lot out on the field our last game and everyone knows it. We didn’t execute when we needed to and we let a close game slip away in the second half. Everyone wishes we could get that second half back but we can’t,” Wide Receiver Kai Ingrassia ‘26 said. “We have a ton of things to tighten up this next week but the team and I are excited to get back out there and prove ourselves against a very tough league schedule, and hopefully start it off by crashing Thunder Ridge’s homecoming.”
