Varsity Boys’ Baseball tryout happened on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 27-28 which started the season. This year, the team is ranked eighth and is trying to get back to their State victory from 2015, after a loss in the playoffs last year. They started their season with a tournament in Grand Junction Thursday through Friday Mar. 9-11 winning all three games against Fruita Monument, Grand Junction Central, and Grand Junction. Their last game was Tuesday Mar. 14 against the fifth ranked team, Pine Creek, beating them 11-1.
“We originally thought our toughest opponent would be Pine Creek, but we beat them [Mar.14] 11 to 1 so now we’re looking towards Regis as being one of our toughest opponents,” infielder Jacob Barnard ’17 said.
This year, the team is working on coming together through trips and weekly team dinners.
“It’s a very tight knit group of players, we all get along with each other and want to go as far was we can,” outfielder Christian Butler ’17 said.
They will travel to Arizona over Spring break for another tournament, and they play their next opponent, Columbine, Thursday Mar. 16.

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles. Clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS) offer students the opportunity to earn service hours by cleaning up the trash in the parking lots. “[The trash] makes us look very unhygienic and unmotivated to be a proper school,” Emberlyse Vidal ‘28 said. “It makes us look like we just don't care about our students' environments.”](https://rockmediaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/20260220_1355020-2-1200x904.jpg)
