Chili, nachos, hot dogs, cornbread…
Who’s hungry?
On Sept. 21, the cafeteria buzzed with noise as students, faculty and other community members alike lined up to get their food.
Chili Dinner began at 6:15 p.m., after the Homecoming Parade but before the Bonfire began. Stalls of food were set up, offering a variety of chilis, hot dogs and nachos.

Students purchased cornbread, sodas and other beverages to accompany their main dishes. Cookies and other baked goods were wrapped with ribbons, and a separate section for vegan options was also included. Menu choices all remained under seven dollars, and paying options included cash, card and Venmo.
Money raised in the event was donated to Choir, whose members manned the food stalls. They wore Choir shirts while handing out bowls of the hot chili.
“It’s impressive how they keep this event going every year and the impact it has on the community,” Ashley Chang ’26 said.

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles. Clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS) offer students the opportunity to earn service hours by cleaning up the trash in the parking lots. “[The trash] makes us look very unhygienic and unmotivated to be a proper school,” Emberlyse Vidal ‘28 said. “It makes us look like we just don't care about our students' environments.”](https://rockmediaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/20260220_1355020-2-1200x904.jpg)
