Varsity Football Season: Photo Recap

New players, a new season and a new year for stepping up on the field.

Starting the season, the Jaguars traveled to Fort Collins to play against the Poudre Aug. 8, winning 20-0.

The next three weeks, the Jags swept all the teams they competed with, beating the Smoky Hill Buffs 42-7 Aug. 31, the Denver East Angels 26-14 Sept. 8 and the Chaparral Wolverines 35-0 Sept. 14. 

The Jaguars had a 5-0 win/loss record after defeating the Chaparral Wolverines. However, a defeat during the school’s Homecoming football game against the Arapahoe Warriors Sept. 22 was the Jaguars’ first loss of the season, losing 24-0 after defeating the Warriors last year 28-17. 

The following weekend, in week seven, the Jaguars secured a close win against the Highlands Ranch Falcons 20-17 Sept. 28. The Jaguars lost to the Mountain Vista Eagles 37-14 Oct. 6 and Valor Christian 30-20 Oct. 13. 

The last two regular season games were played against the Castle View Sabercats, winning 10-3 Oct. 20 and the ThunderRidge Grizzlies 34-14 Oct. 27. 

Going into Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) 5A playoffs, the Jaguars were ranked number 12 heading into the game against number 21 Arvada West Nov. 2. The Jaguars won the game 20-14, leading them to the second round of playoffs where they played number five Ralston Valley Nov. 10  and lost the game 42-14. 

The season ended with a Jaguar win/loss record of 8-4 and a team ranking of third for the in-conference 5A South Metro League games 3-2.
