The sounds of squeaking sneakers running across the gym floor, balls bouncing and hitting the backboard, and students cheering fill up the gym’s space.
The girls varsity basketball team took on the Douglas County High School (DCHS) Huskies at 5:30 p.m. in the gym Jan. 16.
During the first half of the game, the team dominated the Huskies, going into halftime leading by 27 points with a score of 35-8. In the second half of the game, the girls upped their points, scoring another 25 points and only letting the Huskies score 11 more points the rest of the game. The game ended with a 41-point difference by the girls team, with a score of 60-19 W.
The top point leaders were Brooke Harding ‘25 with 24 points, Sarah Davis ‘24 with 12 and Alyssa Goode ‘25 with 10.
According to MaxPreps, the team is currently ranked seventh in Division 6A and 1oth in the state. Their next game takes place against Regis Jesuit High School at 7:00 p.m. Jan. 18. See below for the team’s full schedule.

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles.
