Happy Crew’s annual Battle of the Bands was set to take place Nov. 20, 2023.
The competition between Douglas County High School (DCSD) middle and high school student-led bands was planned to take place at a nearby lounge. Winning bands would be allowed to use and play at an official recording studio for a session.
“Battle of the Bands started in 2007, with many teen bands interested in the competition. We had Isaac Slade from ‘The Fray’ as our mentor, so we went with it,” Happy Crew sponsor and leader Amy Mays said.
However, this year’s event was canceled due to a lack of participation, with no future date in sight.
Now, Happy Crew plans to reschedule the Battle of the Bands in the late spring or summer. Until then, there will be new announcements informing teens about the competition on the Happy Crew Instagram, @happycrewco, and on their website, www.thehappycrew.org.

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles. Clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS) offer students the opportunity to earn service hours by cleaning up the trash in the parking lots. “[The trash] makes us look very unhygienic and unmotivated to be a proper school,” Emberlyse Vidal ‘28 said. “It makes us look like we just don't care about our students' environments.”](https://rockmediaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/20260220_1355020-2-1200x904.jpg)
