Chloe Bishop ’25 pulls her mom across the court as as she is honored as a senior Feb. 6. Three seniors were recognized at the Unified game against the science department. “Senior Night was sad and happy because we’ve gone through a lot together and have so many memories,” Bishop said.

As the bell rings at 9:13 a.m. for Seminar Feb. 6, students flood the gym to watch the Unified Basketball game against the science department in the jungle.

During this game, three seniors were recognized: Gabe Mascitti, Chloe Bishop and Anya Strobel. All athletes started during the first half of the game and continued playing throughout the rest of the game.

“Senior night was sad and happy because we’ve gone through a lot together and have so many memories,” Bishop said.

Students filled the gym to watch their teachers face the SSN students. In the stands, there were multiple signs and pictures held to cheer on the teams. The signs for the Unified team were made by students during the Seminar prior.

“Basketball is my favorite sport to play with the Unified team,” Steve Abram ‘26 said. “I feel happy when I play.”

The game lasted two full halves, with each team subbing out their players to take breaks. Among the crowd was Douglas County School District School District’s superintendent Erin Kane.

The game began with the teams storming the court and facing the crowd. Chloe Bishop came to the court holding a picture of Brandon Hommel stuck onto a piece of bacon. She did this due to Mr Hommel setting off the fire alarm by burning bacon inside the school.

The game ended with the Unified team winning 45-11.

“It was pretty demoralizing to lose, especially because me and Mr. Hommel were talking a lot of smack,” science teacher Payton Holloway said.
