Business attire. Extensive industry knowledge. Countless hours of preparation.
The goal? Earning the DECA Glass.
Each year, competitors from all over Colorado join each other at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs to compete for a chance to attend DECA’s International Career Development Conference, more commonly referred to as ICDC. This year, the competition took place from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28.
Alternatively known as the Distributive Education Clubs of America, DECA is a business-oriented organization with real-world applications, expanding over eight countries and more than 227,000 members worldwide.
All participants work to win an opaque trophy that signifies their proficiency in all sectors of business, nicknamed “DECA Glass.”
Of the 12 Jags who attended the conference, Aditya Khanolkar ‘25, Dane Zitzlsperger ‘25 and Kiefer Duval ‘26 each placed in one of the top six positions for their respective events, earning their ticket to ICDC in Anaheim, California from April 26 to April 29.
There, the three will have to compete against approximately 20,000 students at the highest level DECA has to offer.
President of the chapter, Kaylin Trent ‘26, and DECA adviser Janna Robinett will accompany the three students to Anaheim.

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles. Clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS) offer students the opportunity to earn service hours by cleaning up the trash in the parking lots. “[The trash] makes us look very unhygienic and unmotivated to be a proper school,” Emberlyse Vidal ‘28 said. “It makes us look like we just don't care about our students' environments.”](https://rockmediaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/20260220_1355020-2-1200x904.jpg)
