FRIDAY FACULTY FEATURE: Talks with Taylor

Learn new facts about his work as an athletic trainer and how he impacts people every day.

Picture yourself playing the sport you love.

Suddenly, an injury hits. You think your season is over, but then, you talk to the athletic trainer.

You realize: there is a chance you can play again. 

For the past two years, when students walk into the athletic training room, they have seen a new face: Taylor Quenzer. 

 

Q: What is your name and occupation?

A: My name is Taylor Quenzer and I am Rock Canyon’s Head Athletic Trainer.

Q: Where did you attend school? What did you major in?

A: I went to Heritage High School in Littleton then went on to play lacrosse at Colorado Mesa. Later, I got my athletic training degree at Metro State University of Denver.

Q: What inspired you to become an athletic trainer?

A: I was truly inspired to be an athletic trainer due to playing sports in college and having to deal with injuries myself, which helped me find my true passion of being in sports medicine.

Q: How long have you been an athletic trainer?

A: This will be my third year being an athletic trainer.

Q: Have you been at other schools as an athletic trainer before Rock Canyon?

A: My first experience was being an assistant [at] Castle View and Douglas County High School.

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

A: My favorite part would have to be getting to know my athletes on a personal level and watching how they succeed in their sport.

Q: What is your favorite part about the athletes at Rock Canyon?

A: The best part would have to be the hard work and talent at this school It is truly inspiring. 

Q: Do you ever think about coaching rather than being an athletic trainer?

A: No, sir.

Q: What is the hardest part of your job?

A: The most difficult part is probably the long hours and how unpredictable the schedule can be.

Q: Which sports season is your favorite?

A: I played lacrosse in college, so spring would be one of my favorites. Along with that, I love basketball season.

Q: What do you do when you are not at Rock Canyon? 

A: When I’m not here, I enjoy spending time with my family, specifically my significant other Danielle. We recently just adopted a kitten named Gus, so that’s been a blast. During the summertime, I love golfing and fly fishing. Golf is my favorite hobby, I spend quite a large amount of time with my friends golfing.
