As the tunnel inflated with air and the song “Power” by Kanye West played, the Jags entered the field and kept the momentum from the previous week. However, this game was the Home opener against the Fossil Ridge Saber Cats.
The first quarter started slow, with a missed field goal, but two touchdowns came from running back Noah Jadd ‘26 and wide receiver Ellis Watson ‘26.
“Today we went out there and had fun. That’s what it’s all about. I feel like we got the momentum going to know now,” Watson said.
The score going into the second quarter was 13-0, Jags in the lead.
Kicker Avery Vasquez ‘27 scored a field goal, making the score 16-0 going into the half.
After the half, the Saber Cats came out fighting and scored a touchdown, making the score 16-6.
The Jags fought back with linebacker Levi Schield ‘26 intercepted by bouncing off the helmet of cornerback Aidan McCabe ‘26 which led to a pick 6.
Made the score 22-6. Jags kept their lead.
With touchdowns scored from running backs Brady McLaughlin ‘26 and Noah Jadd ‘26, the game ended 36-6.
“So you know, next up Douglas County, and we’re gonna, blow them out too,” Watson said.
Kickoff tonight’s game vs Douglas County is at 7 p.m. at Echo Park Stadium.
