For seniors without a drivers license, students without a car and families who are on thin gas, Link cars have been a huge convenience for people around Douglas County. On May 27, 2025, Link cars were expanded to Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree by the Douglas County Board to help people who can’t afford a car or can’t drive. All rides are free and easy to get.
People should use this service if they need to get a quick cheap ride somewhere around them. Some families need more help, so having that extra hand for rides can be a big help.
“Link cars are very helpful and useful for our community,” Abigail Dennison ‘29 said.
To reserve a ride, all you need to do is download the Link on Demand app and put in where you are and where you want to go. Once you do that, all you have to do is confirm the ride, then it will show you your driver and details about the driver.
The Douglas County Link car Website confirms all riders’ safety. All drivers are background checked and every ride is tracked and is made sure every vehicle has security cameras on the inside and outside of the car. I have been in Link cars multiple times, and I know that the drivers prioritize your safety and make sure that they have the right location.
Brooklyn Costello 29’ has been in Link cars and also feels very comfortable with them.
”I do not think they are sketchy. I have taken them multiple times and all drivers are very friendly,” Costello said.
Even though people say that Link cars are pros for our school, there are also a few cons.
Links might be starting to cause a rise in tardies because people go out for lunch or Access and do not return to class in time.
“Since it has become so popular, people cannot get a ride back to school in time for their class,” Lindsay Pita ‘29 said.
Considering everyone’s opinion on the Link cars and the crew, I think they are very helpful for many people who can’t drive or don’t want to order an Uber. The Link Crew is very friendly and they get you where you need to go. They were made for a good cause and I think people are using them for the right purpose.
