As of October 1, 2016, the online FAFSA application is now open and taking applications. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. What the FAFSA does is all in its name, it is the application for students to apply for financial aid provided by the U.S. Government.
“I applied for the FAFSA because by signing up, it is more likely that I will receive financial aid for college,” John Meade ’17 said.
What is new about the FAFSA this year is that you now submit tax information from an earlier year. For example, when applying for the 2017-18 FAFSA, you will submit your tax info from 2015, instead of 2016.
Make sure you and your parents each create an account because that is essential to completing your FAFSA application. More information can be found online at https://fafsa.ed.gov
