The announcement of the iPhone 7 was the biggest technology event the world has ever seen based off the amount of viewers and reaction to the event; however, it didn’t exactly get all the positive response Apple was looking for. Even though people really like the improvements and new colors (Jet Black and Black) they really don’t like the fact that Apple has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack. Personally, I don’t mind this. I think it gives the iPhone more versatility and the lightning port will allow for much higher audio quality. I’m just not sure what I would do if I asked someone to pass the AUX cord. Of course Apple has included an adapter. The adapter goes from 3.5 miliphono jack to lightning.

Other than the 3.5 miliphono jack from over 100 years ago being gone, people are also freaking out over some other problems. Apple made a big deal about the new Jet Black color, but it happens to be the most flawed iPhone color. Not only is it the hardest iPhone to get ahold of, but the new color is hard to make and the way they make it causes it to be prone to scratching and it’s far more slippery. Plus, on top of all of that it is only available in the 128 and 256 GB models.

There’s also Hissgate which happens during long phone calls or excessive use of the phone doing difficult operations. Hissgate happens because the Apple A10 Fusion chip over powers and begins to vibrate echoing through the phone causing it to make a horrendous high-pitched hissing noise. The noise will sometimes stop, but in many cases it continues to his and won’t stop until the phone is powered off (if it will allows you to do so) or until Apple has taken it into its care. Apple has said they will replace the phone at no cost if this occurs as it has only affected a select few.

On the other side of the spectrum people do like quite a few of the new additions. The new ‘Black’ color Apple has added has had great response as it still has that classic matte finish, but is a beautiful new color. Personally it’s my favorite. For the first time ever the iPhone is IP67 Safe meaning it’s water resistant up to one meter of pressure and completely dust resistant. This means essentially you can take it in the shower or text in the rain. If you fall into a pool and get out immediately odds are your iPhone 7 or 7 Plus will be just fine.

On a side note Apple has also released the Apple Watch Series 2 which is most compatible with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The most downloaded app in the history of the App Store happens to be Pokemon Go and with the new GPS function on the watch. Apple and Niantic have created a genius idea. Pokemon Go is coming to the Apple Watch and on the series 2 it will count your kilometers and tell you when a pokemon is nearby and let you catch the Pokemon from the watch.

Back to the iPhone. The 7 model camera has an f/1.8 aperture which allows for great low light photography. The 7 Plus model is the real game changer as not only does it have this same camera, but includes a second lens. The iPhone 7 Plus has a Wide Angle lens and a Telephoto lens. This allows for 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The cameras on the iPhone have really changed the photo game. In fact the 7 Plus can take depth of field photos just like a DSLR camera. On top of all of this the display has  better gamut and is 2x better than the previous model.

The iPhone’s A10 Fusion chip is the most powerful yet, it’s almost as powerful as a Macbook which says something. In fact it’s nearly twice as fast as its competitor Galaxy S7. With this new efficient and powerful chip the battery life is the longest in an iPhone ever. It’s 2x longer than the 6s. Plus, the software that goes along with this just sums it all up effortlessly.
Personally I think it’s worth upgrading, but based off this information that’s up to you.
