Boys’ Varsity Basketball Advances Through the Playoffs
This year the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team has broken records by making it to the final four in the 5A State Tournament

This year the Boys’ Varsity Basketball team, has gone farther than ever in the 5A State Tournament. Before playoffs were announced, the team was ranked number five in the state, a two point improvement over last year. They made it to the final four Saturday, March 4 after defeating Grandview by scoring four points in the last five seconds for the win at the Denver Coliseum. The game was close during all four quarters, but in the last seconds Nick Janedis ‘18 scored the winning two points.
“At the end, everything happened so fast because everyone was just so excited that we were going to have another shot to win after Colin’s two pointer, but all of a sudden, I saw Sam with the ball and Nick tip it in and it was bedlam” Lily Rohrbach ‘17 said.
The team has had a successful season, with a record of 23 wins and only three losses.
“It’s a huge milestone for the team” basketball team manager Seth Lawson ‘17 said. “They have worked so hard to get to this point in their careers, and for me I’m just taking in all I can and I’m gonna support my guys through thick and thin. And for the players I can’t speak for them but I’m sure that they want to accomplish more and achieve greatness especially the seniors.”
The next game will will be at the Denver Coliseum at 8:30pm Friday, March 10 against the number one seed, Eaglecrest.
