The Week in Photos: Oct. 21-Oct. 27

Take a look at what Jags were up to the week after Fall Break.
AP Physics students experiments with launching ping pong balls Oct. 24. The class calculated the speeds of the ping pong balls. “[The class is] really challenging but really fun. You get to do a lot of stuff that you probably wouldn’t get to do in a normal class. It’s like really interesting every day,” Livy Arbuckle ‘25 said. Reporting by Ally Kelley and Quinn Barton
Joey Fordham ‘25 purchases a candy gram from Interact Club Treasurer Claudia Llado ‘24 as a part of the “Boo for Wildfires” fundraiser during first lunch Oct. 24. Candy grams, consisting of a piece of candy and a note that will be hand-delivered to recipients Oct. 31, were sold for $2 each. Candy grams will continue to be sold in the Commons during Access and both lunches through Oct. 27. All proceeds go to Maui wildfire relief and recovery efforts. “[I bought one] for Mrs. Dale, from Andrew. I feel like it’s funny to make it from someone not me,” Fordham said. “I like the idea of all the proceeds going to the wildfires, I think that’s a really good cause. Who doesn’t love a little lollipop?” Reporting by Claire Bauer (media by Claire Bauer)
A bright chemical flame bursts from the “Mole Cannon,” fired by Colin Sun ‘26, during Kerry Reilly’s Honors Chemistry class in the 4000s Oct. 24. Chemistry students celebrated Mole Day on Oct. 23 and 24 through a variety of labs and activities including sidewalk chalk, mole making and the firing of the moles from the cannon. “It felt awesome! I felt confident, and I felt powerful,” Sun said. Reporting by Clark Farson and Adi Khanolkar (media by Clark Farson)
Charl Blom ‘26 and Emma Lewandowski ‘25 knead their bretzel dough during a French National Honor Society activity in Alexis Savas’ room Oct. 26. Eight members showed up to the event and cooked Alsatian Bretzels from 3:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. “I hope to make them at home maybe in the future with my family since they also enjoy these pretzels,” Blom said. Sumanth Kaja ‘27 learns grammar through a program called “Grammar Buddies” in Kate Kubina’s English I Honors class Oct. 27. This method of teaching utilized popular videos, only with a grammatical twist. “We are learning grammar rules, like where to use semicolons or colons,” Kaja said.
