The Week in Photos: Jan. 6-Jan. 12

Back-to-school week, in photos.
Dane Zitzlsperger ‘25 leans on the chassis of his go-kart to push it up his driveway Jan. 8. According to FOX 31 Denver, Highlands Ranch received three and a half inches of snow. This allowed Zitzlsperger to spend his last day of winter break drifting his custom-built go-kart through fresh powder. “In the summers, I can’t really drift the kart since the tires can’t handle it, but in winter snow, it easily cranks donuts and long drifts,” Zitzlsperger said. Senior guard Mac Terry dribbles down the court during the varsity basketball game against Eaglecrest High School (EHS) at EHS Jan. 9. The game was cut short due to an Eaglecrest player’s medical emergency during overtime. The game was called with 1:17 minutes left in overtime and a Jaguar lead of 54-52. The remaining 1:17 will be finished at a later date to decide a winner. “It sucked to see that happen and it was a scary moment; prayers up to him and hopefully he’s doing better,” Terry said. Nicholas Juanillo ‘26 deadlifts 455 pounds in Coach Kevin Meyers’ weight room Jan. 11. This lift was a personal record on the trap bar for Juanillo, also helping him stay fit during the football off-season. “I’ve been working towards this weight for about a year and a quarter, so I’m proud of the lift,” Juanillo said. Kai Mcelderry ‘25 works on a piece in Kennetha Miller’s Photoshop and Digital Design class Jan. 11. Students were required to create a piece in Photoshop using already-created art and enhance it to be evaluated for their abilities. “I think it’s a pretty cool class,” Mcelderry said.
