Man Poms poses at the end of their routine in the gym during the Homecoming Assembly Sept. 19. Man Poms is an annual tradition in which boys from the senior class perform at both the Homecoming Assembly and the Homecoming football game. “I joined Man Poms because it sounded fun and a lot of my friends were doing it, so I went ahead and joined. Also performing in front of the whole school sounded amazing,” Man Poms dancer Nidhay Somanchi ‘25 said. “My favorite part of performing was hyping up the crowd at the football game and at the assembly because it shows our connections with each other and our crazy school spirit.”

The Closing Ceremony: A Look Back on the Homecoming Assembly

Coming Home with the Gold Homecoming Assembly wraps up Homecoming Week Sept. 13- Sept. 19

Students from all grades fill the gym wearing their Coming Home with the Gold Homecoming t-shirts and crowd in to find their seats in the bleachers for the Homecoming Assembly Sept. 19. As the assembly begins Student Body President Blanka Sniezyk ‘25 and Student Body Vise President Lizzie Watabe ‘25 walk up to the center of the gym.

The Homecoming Assembly has finally begun.

Throughout the assembly, Jaguars experienced performances from singer Caden Yocum ‘25, pianist Madeline Buckman ‘25, electric guitarist Kyle Rogge ‘27, the Dance Team, Cheer, Man Poms and a flash mob with Student Council (Stuco)

“I loved the whole assembly and its entirety,” Sniezyk said. “… If I had to choose one aspect of it, I think I would say the flash mob [was my favorite part]… We learned the dance all together and then practiced it outside and it reminded me of a real-life “High School Musical”, which was super cool.”

Homecoming Week took place from Sept. 13 to Sept. 19. During the week Jaguars took part in spirit days such as Merica’ Monday, Toga Tuesday, What Team Wednesday and Team RC. Students also participated in annual events such as Powder Puff, Ruff n’ Tuff and the Homecoming Parade.

“My favorite part of being on a float for the Homecoming Parade was getting to see all the little kids and their excitement. It was super cool to get to see possible future jaguars and their pure joy,” Petra McGowan ‘25 said.

Although Homecoming week ended on Sept. 19, Jaguars attended the Homecoming football game against Grandview High School at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 and the Homecoming dance at Wings Over the Rockies from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 21.
