Handprint History
Seniors leave their mark on the final day by adding handprints to Senior Wall May 12.
How do you choose to make your mark on the school?
Some students may argue their athletic careers, academic records, or wins in activities hold their place in the school’s history forever. But, no matter what you did or didn’t do, everyone gets honored at the end of their senior year, on Senior Wall.
Every year, on the last day seniors enter the school for Senior Checkout, senior handprints take place, a tradition that’s been hosted by Student Council for years.
This year, Class of 2023 adorned the wall with bright purple-painted handprints, adding on to the collage of years worth of red, green, yellow, orange, and more hands.
“It felt great being able to finally put my handprint on the wall. I’ve been walking past that wall for the past four years, waiting for my turn, and it finally came,” Aahana Nandy ’23 said. “It also really just made it sink in that I’m finally done and senior year–or all of high school for a matter of fact–has come to an end. It was a bittersweet feeling, but I definitely will remember getting to put my handprint on the wall.”

According to Keep America Beautiful, the majority of the trash found on both roads and waterways consists of fast food wrappers and packaging, receipts and plastic beverage bottles. Clubs like the National Honor Society (NHS) offer students the opportunity to earn service hours by cleaning up the trash in the parking lots. “[The trash] makes us look very unhygienic and unmotivated to be a proper school,” Emberlyse Vidal ‘28 said. “It makes us look like we just don't care about our students' environments.”](https://rockmediaonline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/20260220_1355020-2-1200x904.jpg)
