Earlier this month, February 2, 2021, Electronic Arts (EA) Sports announced that they would be releasing National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 21, a game similar to Madden National Football League (NFL), but instead of NFL, it is college football teams. The last game released in the series was in 2014, with former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson on the cover. Fans have been asking EA to have the series come back for a few years now, and they couldn’t be more excited. The game will be released for next generation consoles, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

“Being able to play as college teams and use college athletes is exciting,” Noah Peterson ’21 said.

Peterson is a fan of college football and has paid close attention to it for four years now.

“Also, being able to create your own players to play in college football is something I’m looking forward to,” Peterson said.

The last game in the series was NCAA Football ’14. After that, the series was cancelled because the companies were in dispute on whether or not to pay student athletes for the companies using their name, images and likeness. Although these games didn’t mirror real life, they only used characters that closely resembled the student athletes, which caused the disputes in the first place.

The release date for the game has yet to be announced, along with which player will be on the front cover. Although it seems to be that Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Clemson Tigers, is the front runner for the spot. Other stars now in the NFL have also spoken out about wanting to be on the cover. Kyler Murray (QB, Arizona Cardinals) and Joe Burrow (QB, Cincinnati Bengals), both expressed their feelings over social media about wanting to be on the cover for the game.
