While waiting for the game to begin, Sarah Callahan ‘26, Ashley Chang ‘26 and Mishika Bhatia ‘26 talk with math teacher Austin Bennett during the first round of pool play of Trivia Bowl Nov. 12. Trivia Bowl is a tradition where all seminars from around the school go against each other to see which one is the best at trivia. “I’m looking forward to winning,” Isaac Campbell ‘26 said. “We had a tough first round, but I know the second round will be better.”
Trivia Bowl: A Battle for the Best
On Oct. 30, 24 Eco Club members took a tour of the school’s solar panels on the roof. They were guided and taught by an employee from E Light Electric, the company that maintains the school’s solar panels, and learned about how the panels are maintained and cared for. “I was definitely very excited about being on the roof in general,” Eco Club member Olivia Fang ‘26 said. “[It was exciting to] learn more about solar panels and how they work and how they supply energy to our school.”

Weather Report: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Fall

Man Poms is an annual tradition in which boys from the senior class perform at both the Homecoming Assembly and the Homecoming football game. “I joined Man Poms because it sounded fun and a lot of my friends were doing it, so I went ahead and joined. Also performing in front of the whole school sounded amazing,” Man Poms dancer Nidhay Somanchi ‘25 said. “My favorite part of performing was hyping up the crowd at the football game and at the assembly because it shows our connections with each other and our crazy school spirit.”
The Closing Ceremony: A Look Back on the Homecoming Assembly
Varsity football players run out of the Jaguar tunnel with smoke flying at 7 p.m. at Echo Park Stadium Sept. 20 for the Homecoming football game against Grandview High School ending in a 42-17 loss. After halftime performances from Dance Team and Cheer, Man Poms and Marching Band the seniors organized a new chalkthrow in the student section. “I was pretty fired up, running out of the tunnel is always really fun and it was crazy seeing how many people were in the stands to watch us play even if the end result wasn’t what we had hoped for,” Captain and wide receiver Kai Ingrassia ‘26 said. “ It’s never fun to lose a game, especially Homecoming, but if you can learn something from an experience and do better next time then it wasn’t entirely bad, Grandview is a really good football team and their record didn’t reflect that. We learned a lot of things from a top team in the state that I really believe will help us get significantly better throughout the rest of our season,”

Meyer coached the team for four years and led the team to a 4-7 season record before announcing his retirement Nov. 11. “We had a great four years going 26 to 21. It was a program that was really down, and it took a lot to get to where we are now,” Meyer said.

Powder Puff took place at Echo Park Stadium at 6 p.m. “I thought it was super special, and it was really nice to see all my friends just get together and do something really fun,” Doublet said.
A Field Full of Flag Football
Varsity football offensive guard Preston Duman ‘26 and offensive tackle Brodyn Caruso ‘26 face off with Chaparral High School (CHS) Aug. 30 at Echo Park Stadium at 7 p.m. During the game, the team averaged 321 rushing yards according to MaxPreps. “During the game I felt lots of different emotions like the excitement of a home game. I also felt very exhausted cause I played for most of the game,” Duman said.

Varsity swimmer Maxxwell Menzies '24 dives into the water for the 50 yard-freestyle during the finals at A-Leaguges May 4. Menzies was a dual sport athelte this year competing in both the mens swim and dive program in the spring but also has partipated in the Sabercats combined hockey team over the winter.

Finding Hope and Healing
During a lab in Kerry Reilly’s Chem Honors class, Millie Goblirsch ‘27 looks through a spectroscope to examine the emission spectra of a mystery element Nov. 12. Through spectral tubes and flame tests, students were able to discover the wavelengths of different elements and metals via the unique emission spectra that each element produces. “I liked the chem lab because we were able to see how certain elements reacted when energy was added,” Addison Evert ‘27 said. “Many of the flames were unique colors when the metals were added.”
Looking for Light
Ice and snow make it difficult for drivers on the road. During snowstorms, drivers have poor visibility, and frozen roads make it difficult to stay in control. “Driving home from Denver [on Friday], the neighborhoods weren’t plowed. By the time we got back they were only plowing highways. We spun out, nearly got stuck and fishtailed a few different times,” Connor Pugh ‘26 said.
Staying Safe in Snow and Ice

Environmental Endeavors: Distrawt Oceans
Nick TeSelle ‘25 works on the “WayLessSad” merch website Aug. 29. WayLessSad is aiming to collaborate with Better Help and make its own hotline to be there for those who need immediate help. “Eventually I'd like to have in-house psychiatrists and psychologists that you can talk to on call whenever you need,” TeSelle said.

Crazy for Chai
Varsity girls soccer midfielder Leah Sheahan ‘24 hugs a friend during the Senior Night celebrations before the home game against Mountain Vista High School (MVHS) at Echo Park Stadium April 29. The Jags tied 0-0, losing the Continental League Championship. “We were obviously the stronger team but just couldn’t find a way to score, but otherwise our connection and our intensity was really high so I’m proud of that. We just have to find the net,” defense midfielder Clara Geuzaine ‘24 said. “[Losing League] wasn’t the best. It’s better than last year and like, I know our team and we are doing really good. I don’t want to jinx it but like hopefully [we’ll do] good [in playoffs].”

Prom Planning
In room 4101, Natalie Patterson ‘26, Ariana Magor ‘25 and Celina Salazar ‘25 create a poster in science teacher Kerry Reilly’s Chemistry Honors April 18. The three completed a worksheet and drawing to explain the implosion of a tank for their unit on gas laws. “At the start of class, we watched a video of the tank imploding,” Patterson said. “I think [making a drawing] is something new. I like more artsy activities.”

RCTV teacher and Film Fest host Jim McClurg adjusts the camera for the Film Fest red carpet April 8. This year, there were 11 main categories for awards that could be won. “I think RCTV is just a little bit different than most classes. It allows kids to kind of express their creativity. By using digital media to tell stories, learning all the technical aspects and things during the broadcast side. We're also doing that kind of experimental kind of film-type videos too. So, try to allow them to do everything when they're in here. So when they leave they have a lot of skills they can walk out with,” McClurg said.
