On Oct. 30, 24 Eco Club members took a tour of the school’s solar panels on the roof. They were guided and taught by an employee from E Light Electric, the company that maintains the school’s solar panels, and learned about how the panels are maintained and cared for. “I was definitely very excited about being on the roof in general,” Eco Club member Olivia Fang ‘26 said. “[It was exciting to] learn more about solar panels and how they work and how they supply energy to our school.”

Man Poms is an annual tradition in which boys from the senior class perform at both the Homecoming Assembly and the Homecoming football game. “I joined Man Poms because it sounded fun and a lot of my friends were doing it, so I went ahead and joined. Also performing in front of the whole school sounded amazing,” Man Poms dancer Nidhay Somanchi ‘25 said. “My favorite part of performing was hyping up the crowd at the football game and at the assembly because it shows our connections with each other and our crazy school spirit.”

Varsity football offensive guard Preston Duman ‘26 and offensive tackle Brodyn Caruso ‘26 face off with Chaparral High School (CHS) Aug. 30 at Echo Park Stadium at 7 p.m. During the game, the team averaged 321 rushing yards according to MaxPreps. “During the game I felt lots of different emotions like the excitement of a home game. I also felt very exhausted cause I played for most of the game,” Duman said.

Varsity swimmer Maxxwell Menzies '24 dives into the water for the 50 yard-freestyle during the finals at A-Leaguges May 4. Menzies was a dual sport athelte this year competing in both the mens swim and dive program in the spring but also has partipated in the Sabercats combined hockey team over the winter.

Ice and snow make it difficult for drivers on the road. During snowstorms, drivers have poor visibility, and frozen roads make it difficult to stay in control. “Driving home from Denver [on Friday], the neighborhoods weren’t plowed. By the time we got back they were only plowing highways. We spun out, nearly got stuck and fishtailed a few different times,” Connor Pugh ‘26 said.

Varsity girls soccer midfielder Leah Sheahan ‘24 hugs a friend during the Senior Night celebrations before the home game against Mountain Vista High School (MVHS) at Echo Park Stadium April 29. During Senior Night, seniors were given flowers and the opportunity to walk out and take pictures with their family as their future plans and favorite memories were announced over the speakers. The Jags tied 0-0, losing the Continental League Championship. “We were obviously the stronger team but just couldn’t find a way to score, but otherwise our connection and our intensity was really high so I’m proud of that. We just have to find the net,” defense midfielder Clara Geuzaine ‘24 said. “[Losing League] wasn’t the best. It’s better than last year and like, I know our team and we are doing really good. I don’t want to jinx it but like hopefully [we’ll do] good [in playoffs].”

In room 4101, Natalie Patterson ‘26, Ariana Magor ‘25 and Celina Salazar ‘25 create a poster in science teacher Kerry Reilly’s Chemistry Honors April 18. The three completed a worksheet and drawing to explain the implosion of a tank for their unit on gas laws. “At the start of class, we watched a video of the tank imploding,” Patterson said. “I think [making a drawing] is something new. Arianna Johnson ‘23, Brooke Schenderlein ‘25 and Eliannah Nguyen ‘25 put a bald cap on Kieran Williams ‘23 for the second act of “Marvin’s Room" Nov. 17. The show took place 7:00 p.m. Nov. 16, 17, and 18. Tickets were $10 for adults and $5 for students. Williams's character, Bessie, lost her hair due to chemotherapy treatment for leukemia. “It is weird to see myself without hair, but it was fine. Being bald is a result of chemotherapy and that’s just what Bessie had to go through,” Williams said.

Stella Catalano ‘24 and Oliver Conard ‘24, the mother and father of Jesse (played by Katelyn Falcon ‘24) in “Distracted,” talk to each other about if their child could have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in their final dress rehearsal Nov. 2. Catalano’s character believes that Jesse could have one of these disorders while Conard’s character believes that their son is just being a kid which causes them to argue about the different ways in which they should approach the issue with their child. “Theater has given me a place where I can be myself and express my emotions in creative ways,” Conard said.

"Before I taught guitar at Rock Canyon, I had a guitar and love to explore different genres of music and learn songs that I heard on the radio and that kind of thing. But then when I started teaching at Rock Canyon and they needed a guitar teacher, it was an amazing experience to actually start teaching instruments because generally students who play the guitar have a real passion for it," Dale said.
