After nine months of complete roadway reconstruction, the segment of Monarch Boulevard from Castle Pines Parkway to Berganot Trail reopened Dec. 9. The completion of the construction Monday afternoon marked one of the final phases of Monarch’s construction, with the final leg beginning in June. “The City is very pleased with the project's progress. This year’s project installed 8,900 feet of new waterline and completely reconstructed 1.7 miles of roadway and related infrastructure,” project manager and civil engineer Dole Grebenik said.
Conflicts of Construction: UPDATE
The Eco Club competed against two other schools in the district, Castle View High School and ThunderRidge High School. Actions completed by the club were rewarded with a certain number of points, the winner being the school with the greatest total.
You Are My Sunshine: Update
While waiting for the game to begin, Sarah Callahan ‘26, Ashley Chang ‘26 and Mishika Bhatia ‘26 talk with math teacher Austin Bennett during the first round of pool play of Trivia Bowl Nov. 12. Trivia Bowl is a tradition where all seminars from around the school go against each other to see which one is the best at trivia. “I’m looking forward to winning,” Isaac Campbell ‘26 said. “We had a tough first round, but I know the second round will be better.”
Trivia Bowl: A Battle for the Best
On Oct. 30, 24 Eco Club members took a tour of the school’s solar panels on the roof. They were guided and taught by an employee from E Light Electric, the company that maintains the school’s solar panels, and learned about how the panels are maintained and cared for. “I was definitely very excited about being on the roof in general,” Eco Club member Olivia Fang ‘26 said. “[It was exciting to] learn more about solar panels and how they work and how they supply energy to our school.”

Presidential Election: What You Need to Know
Varsity football players run out of the Jaguar tunnel with smoke flying at 7 p.m. at Echo Park Stadium Sept. 20 for the Homecoming football game against Grandview High School ending in a 42-17 loss. After halftime performances from Dance Team and Cheer, Man Poms and Marching Band the seniors organized a new chalkthrow in the student section. “I was pretty fired up, running out of the tunnel is always really fun and it was crazy seeing how many people were in the stands to watch us play even if the end result wasn’t what we had hoped for,” Captain and wide receiver Kai Ingrassia ‘26 said. “ It’s never fun to lose a game, especially Homecoming, but if you can learn something from an experience and do better next time then it wasn’t entirely bad, Grandview is a really good football team and their record didn’t reflect that. We learned a lot of things from a top team in the state that I really believe will help us get significantly better throughout the rest of our season,”

Meyer coached the team for four years and led the team to a 4-7 season record before announcing his retirement Nov. 11. “We had a great four years going 26 to 21. It was a program that was really down, and it took a lot to get to where we are now,” Meyer said.

After her Powder Puff team the “Touchdown Teasers” scored, Anouck Doublet ‘25 celebrates with her teammates Sept. 16. Powder Puff took place at Echo Park Stadium at 6 p.m. “I thought it was super special, and it was really nice to see all my friends just get together and do something really fun,” Doublet said.
A Field Full of Flag Football
Varsity football offensive guard Preston Duman ‘26 and offensive tackle Brodyn Caruso ‘26 face off with Chaparral High School (CHS) Aug. 30 at Echo Park Stadium at 7 p.m. During the game, the team averaged 321 rushing yards according to MaxPreps. “During the game I felt lots of different emotions like the excitement of a home game. I also felt very exhausted cause I played for most of the game,” Duman said.

Varsity swimmer Maxxwell Menzies '24 dives into the water for the 50 yard-freestyle during the finals at A-Leaguges May 4. Menzies was a dual sport athelte this year competing in both the mens swim and dive program in the spring but also has partipated in the Sabercats combined hockey team over the winter.

Finding Hope and Healing
During a lab in Kerry Reilly’s Chem Honors class, Millie Goblirsch ‘27 looks through a spectroscope to examine the emission spectra of a mystery element Nov. 12. Through spectral tubes and flame tests, students were able to discover the wavelengths of different elements and metals via the unique emission spectra that each element produces. “I liked the chem lab because we were able to see how certain elements reacted when energy was added,” Addison Evert ‘27 said. “Many of the flames were unique colors when the metals were added.”
Looking for Light
Ice and snow make it difficult for drivers on the road. During snowstorms, drivers have poor visibility, and frozen roads make it difficult to stay in control. “Driving home from Denver [on Friday], the neighborhoods weren’t plowed. By the time we got back they were only plowing highways. We spun out, nearly got stuck and fishtailed a few different times,” Connor Pugh ‘26 said.

Varsity girls soccer midfielder Leah Sheahan ‘24 hugs a friend during the Senior Night celebrations before the home game against Mountain Vista High School (MVHS) at Echo Park Stadium April 29. During Senior Night, seniors were given flowers and the opportunity to walk out and take pictures with their family as their future plans and favorite memories were announced over the speakers. The Jags tied 0-0, losing the Continental League Championship. “We were obviously the stronger team but just couldn’t find a way to score, but otherwise our connection and our intensity was really high so I’m proud of that. We just have to find the net,” defense midfielder Clara Geuzaine ‘24 said. “[Losing League] wasn’t the best. It’s better than last year and like, I know our team and we are doing really good. I don’t want to jinx it but like hopefully [we’ll do] good [in playoffs].”

The three completed a worksheet and drawing to explain the implosion of a tank for their unit on gas laws. “At the start of class, we watched a video of the tank imploding,” Patterson said. “I think [making a drawing] is something new. I like more artsy activities.”
