On Oct. 30, 24 Eco Club members took a tour of the school’s solar panels on the roof. They were guided and taught by an employee from E Light Electric, the company that maintains the school’s solar panels, and learned about how the panels are maintained and cared for. “I was definitely very excited about being on the roof in general,” Eco Club member Olivia Fang ‘26 said. “[It was exciting to] learn more about solar panels and how they work and how they supply energy to our school.”

Man Poms is an annual tradition in which boys from the senior class perform at both the Homecoming Assembly and the Homecoming football game. “I joined Man Poms because it sounded fun and a lot of my friends were doing it, so I went ahead and joined. Also performing in front of the whole school sounded amazing,” Man Poms dancer Nidhay Somanchi ‘25 said. “My favorite part of performing was hyping up the crowd at the football game and at the assembly because it shows our connections with each other and our crazy school spirit.”

Meyer coached the team for four years and led the team to a 4-7 season record before announcing his retirement Nov. 11. “We had a great four years going 26 to 21. It was a program that was really down, and it took a lot to get to where we are now,” Meyer said.

Powder Puff took place at Echo Park Stadium at 6 p.m. “I thought it was super special, and it was really nice to see all my friends just get together and do something really fun,” Doublet said.
A Field Full of Flag Football
Varsity football offensive guard Preston Duman ‘26 and offensive tackle Brodyn Caruso ‘26 face off with Chaparral High School (CHS) Aug. 30 at Echo Park Stadium at 7 p.m. During the game, the team averaged 321 rushing yards according to MaxPreps. “During the game I felt lots of different emotions like the excitement of a home game. I also felt very exhausted cause I played for most of the game,” Duman said.

Varsity swimmer Maxxwell Menzies '24 dives into the water for the 50 yard-freestyle during the finals at A-Leaguges May 4. Menzies was a dual sport athelte this year competing in both the mens swim and dive program in the spring but also has partipated in the Sabercats combined hockey team over the winter.

WayLessSad is aiming to collaborate with Better Help and make its own hotline to be there for those who need immediate help. “Eventually I'd like to have in-house psychiatrists and psychologists that you can talk to on call whenever you need,” TeSelle said.

Math teacher Austin Bennett observes seventh period students step to the board to solve Equation of Circle problems May 2. Bennett has been teaching for a total of four years, with only two of those years spent as a Jag. He hopes after his time as a high school teacher to become a professor. "[College math] is more challenging, and it's good to challenge yourself," Bennett said.

Varsity girls soccer midfielder Leah Sheahan ‘24 hugs a friend during the Senior Night celebrations before the home game against Mountain Vista High School (MVHS) at Echo Park Stadium April 29. During Senior Night, seniors were given flowers and the opportunity to walk out and take pictures with their family as their future plans and favorite memories were announced over the speakers. The Jags tied 0-0, losing the Continental League Championship. “We were obviously the stronger team but just couldn’t find a way to score, but otherwise our connection and our intensity was really high so I’m proud of that. We just have to find the net,” defense midfielder Clara Geuzaine ‘24 said. “[Losing League] wasn’t the best. It’s better than last year and like, I know our team and we are doing really good. I don’t want to jinx it but like hopefully [we’ll do] good [in playoffs].”

In room 4101, Natalie Patterson ‘26, Ariana Magor ‘25 and Celina Salazar ‘25 create a poster in science teacher Kerry Reilly’s Chemistry Honors April 18. The three completed a worksheet and drawing to explain the implosion of a tank for their unit on gas laws. “At the start of class, we watched a video of the tank imploding,” Patterson said. “I think [making a drawing] is something new. I like more artsy activities.”

“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, developed by Insomniac Games and published by Playstation Studios, was released for the Playstation Five (PS5) on Oct. 20, 2023. Recently, it was announced to be coming to Personal Computers (PCs) next year, Jan. 30, 2025. I am Will. This is my first year on staff. In my free time, I enjoy fishing off the dock on the lake and lifting weights. I play football corner and return kicks. Point guard Owen Creeden ‘24 goes up for a layup during the varsity basketball game against Legend High School (LHS) Jan. 23. The Jags defeated the Titans 50-45. “Our league is better than it ever has been. Some teams considered towards the bottom are much better than they seem, and we knew that going in,” Assistant Basketball Coach Payton Holloway said. “And having a game like ThunderRidge late in the week [next week] can be emotional and rivalry. It's easy to look past a team-like legend. I felt like Legend put us in some tough spots and good positions, but good teams always find a way to win.”

Senior guard Mac Terry dribbles down the court during the varsity basketball game against Eaglecrest High School (EHS) at EHS Jan. 9. The game was cut short due to an Eaglecrest player’s medical emergency during overtime. The game was called with 1:17 minutes left in overtime and a Jaguar lead of 54-52. The remaining 1:17 will be finished at a later date to decide a winner. “It sucked to see that happen and it was a scary moment; prayers up to him and hopefully he’s doing better,” Terry said.

The Jaguars defeated the Golden Eagles 54-49. “The team can play better defense, and play a better half of [the game]. If we can figure out what to do in the first half and keep doing what we're doing [for] the second half, we happily finish out games,” Terry said.
