On Friday, August 26th, Rock Canyon Cross Country sprinted into their first meet of the season at Mountain Vista High School. Boys’ and girls’ Varsity and JV teams competed at an all levels invitational.

Speeding past the competition into first place at the Boy’s Varsity level was Chris Theodore ’18. Bailey Timmons ’17 placed fifth in the event, pushing the team to an overall tie for second place that came down to the sixth runner.

In girls Varsity, Shannon Osoba ’19 took fifth place and the team finished overall in third place with 105 points. Girls’ JV took third place as well, while boys’ JV took a close second with 40 points to the leading Mountain Vista’s 36 points.

Mountain Vista came away will overall champion titles in each race but Rock Canyon Cross Country members view the meet as a positive start to the season. “It was a good race. It was fun, a challenging course, new experience,” Augustus Vallantine ’17 said.

Rock Canyon Cross Country looks forward to a promising season in which Vallantine hopes the team will place at least third in the state.
